英国高等教育报刊《泰晤士高等教育》（Times Higher Education）公布“全球大学生就业能力排行榜”（Global Employability University Ranking），加拿大有5间大学打入全球有150间大学上榜的排名，当中卑诗大学(UBC)排名45位。

据《环球邮报》报道调查，访问全球逾22个国家及地区、6,000家公司的几千名经理，而调查结果显示，加国大学毕业生的能力备受雇主信赖。

加国大学在培养具有雇主所需技能的本科生，于商业、电脑和工程等领域尤为突出，占所调查行业领域的80%。

美国大学囊括三甲

排名三甲皆为美国大学，依次为加州理工学院、哈佛大学、哥伦比亚大学。加拿大的多伦多大学、麦基尔大学、满地可大学和卑诗大学等4间大学打入头50位，当中多伦多大学排名最高，排第13位，比去年微升一位；安省麦马士达大学排第74位。

多大校长格特勒（Meric Gertler）表示：“我们尝试把更多的焦点放在核心竞争力和他们正学习的主题上。我们确保他们可以良好地沟通，有机会在团队中工作，这些努力都得到回报。”该校也非常着重学生的解难、交流和批判思维能力。格特勒表示，学校对学生的要求很严格：“虽然我们的学生可能不太欣赏，但似乎雇主很受落。”

相比之下，英国大学的排名呈下滑，着名学府牛津大学的排名下跌8级，跌至第15位，低于多大，令调查人员意外。

《泰晤士高等教育》数据编辑Simon Baker指，英国毕业生可能缺乏雇主所看重的技术技能，因英国大学旨在培养“全面化”毕业生，而加拿大和法国等国家的大学，非常重视毕业生的就业能力，会为毕业生在大学以外的时间做准备。
